Vegan activist Greta Thunberg nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Vegan climate activist Greta Thunberg has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 16.

The young revolutionary — who’s described herself as a “16-year-old climate activist with Asperger’s” — was nominated for the award by three Norwegian MPs as a result of her activism.

Today, in cities around the world, students have joined Thunberg’s longstanding tradition of weekly school strikes, an initiative designed to call attention to her cause. It’s estimated that hundreds of thousands of young people have taken to the streets in protest as part of what’s now been dubbed Fridays for Future.

“No one is doing anything,” she’d told the BBC last September.

“Nothing is happening. So I must do what I can.”

On the first Friday, Thunberg went on strike alone, but her movement quickly grew. In December, at the UN Climate Change Conference, the youngster wrote cheques she’s had no problem cashing.

“We have come here to let you know that change is coming, whether you like it or not,” she said.

“The real power belongs to the people.”

Think you’re just one person, and that you may as well just stay on the sofa eating Oreos and catching up on the latest season of Riverdale? Think again.

According to Thunberg, “you are never too small to make a difference”.

If that doesn’t goad you into getting off the couch, who knows what will.
