Riverdale stars Madelaine Petsch and Nathalie Boltt squash vegan protein myths at fan expo
Nathalie Boltt and Madelaine Petsch, stars of hit TV show Riverdale, squashed vegan protein myths at the Vancouver Fan Expo this month.
The pair, who play daughter and mother Cheryl and Penelope Blossom, appeared on a panel to discuss the show but, as the old adage goes, “wherever a vegan dare wander, nutrition discussion must follow”.
Okay, nobody says that, but it happens a lot, okay?!

Anyway, the panel moderator had a number of questions to ask about Petsch’s lifestyle, including her favourite Vancouver restaurant — Heirloom — and how she stays fit as a vegan.
“As a vegan, how do you nourish yourself for that?” he asked, referring to her workout routine.
It was not Petsch but Boltt who ultimately answered his query, apparently more motherly in real life than she is on the show.
“Vegans and vegetarians, they get protein in their bodies just like everyone else,” she said.
“I got some muscles,” Petsch added.
“This can’t possibly be entertaining for you guys.”
It seems the star is about as tired of the dietary cross-examination as the rest of us.
