Long John Silver’s is adding vegan fish to the menu

America’s largest seafood chain will be seeing some plant-based options. Long John Silver’s is testing vegan seafood at five locations in California and Georgia.

The limited-time menu items come from Good Catch Foods. Vegan crab cakes and fish-free fish filets can be ordered as à la carte add-ons to any meal, but they are also featured specifically on the menu three times. The Plant-Based Platter includes two Fish-Free Fillets, two Crab-Free Cakes, and two sides, and Fish-Free Fillets or Crab-Free Cakes are also available as two plant-based meal options. The latter comes with two sides.

Good Catch has been making waves recently with their campaign outside of Subway to get customers to ditch fish, so partnering with a leading seafood restaurant in the United States seems like a logical next step.

“We’re excited to propel change in quick service restaurants by teaming up with Long John Silver’s,” said Christine Mei, the CEO of Good Catch parent company Gathered Foods. “With the plant-based seafood sector expected to grow twelve-fold in the next ten years to $1.3 billion, there’s room for dramatic growth. We’re proud to fuel the momentum by delivering the delicious taste, unmistakable texture, and comparable protein that consumers crave.”

Right now, these options are only available at select locations in Georgia and California. Vegan fish is on the menu in Albany and Newman in Georgia, as well as Bakersfield, Sacramento, and Clovis in California.
