Vegan milk brand Good Karma buys back majority ownership

Good Karma, which produces vegan flax-based milk and dips, can now buy back majority ownership of the company, thanks to new investments. In 2017, after multiple investments into the non-dairy brand, Dallas-based Dean Foods, the United States’ largest dairy producer, became majority stakeholder. However, last November, Dean Foods filed for bankruptcy, allowing Good Karma a chance to take back ownership.

Now, Good Karma has received investments from food fund Valor Siren Ventures and Consumer Products Growth Partners. Though the amount of these investments was not disclosed, they have been described as “significant.”

With these new developments, Good Karma is going independent, opting to operate out of Boulder, CO with its current leadership team. The company’s plan is to use these new investments to expand distribution while also expanding its brand-building and consumer awareness programs.

The CEO of Good Karma, Doug Radi, expressed his excitement to be working with existing investor Consumer Products and Growth Partners and first-time investor Valor Siren Ventures. “We could not have found a better partner than Valor Siren Ventures to help us bring more plant-based goodness to more places,” he said, “and [we] are honored to be among the mission-driven teams and brands in their portfolio.”
