Vegan Bakery to host after school baking classes for kids

Yvonne O'Halloran

Sticky Fingers Sweets and Eats, a Washington, DC-based vegan bakery, is launching After School Virtual Baking Classes, an online cooking program specifically designed for children. Doron Peterson, the founder of the bakery and two-time winner of Cupcake Wars, will be the teacher of these classes.

Children will learn how to make a variety of vegan desserts, including cupcakes, muffins, and cookies. Peterson designed the program to help give children a break from these difficult times and learn a fun yet useful skill.

The classes, which are one-hour long,  are inspired by in-person events Petersan hosted prior to the pandemic. Some of the recipes kids will learn how to make are funfetti cupcakes, pancakes, and chocolate chip cookies. Every recipe was developed by Petersan with children, struggling home-schooling parents, and animals in mind.

Between September 15 and November 10, every class will air on Sticky Fingers’ website, taking place every Tuesday at 4:00pm. Additionally, all of the courses will be recorded, making them available at any time so kids can learn at their own pace. There are three different ways to access the classes: they can be purchased individually for $10 each, as a kit, which includes the class, a signature bag, and local pickup for ingredients, for $35, or as a full semester, including all classes, ingredients, a signature bag, and a professional apron.
