Veganism comes to Israel in the form of a recent commercial. Vegan Friendly, an Israel-based charity, produced an ad promoting veganism that reached an estimated three million people. The commercial aired during the season finale of Survivor Israel, which is one of the most-watched series in the country.

The commercial initially takes place in a grocery store, where a couple are shopping for lamb. The man chooses frozen lamb, while the woman says she wants her lamb “extra fresh,” leading them to a butcher shop. The butcher asks, “Would you like it chopped or wrapped?”

A voiceover then claims, “More than a million Israelis have made the connection and stopped eating animals”. In the end, the ad encourages viewers to Google “make the connection” to learn more about veganism.

“The Israeli audience saw on prime time, at the climactic moment of a reality show, the real source of the food it needs,” said Omri Paz, the founder and CEO of Vegan Friendly, in a statement. With this commercial, the organization hopes to bring veganism “to the wider public discourse, and even influence many people to make a different choice when they approach the supermarket.”
