TV star Mayim Bialik debuts vegan Passover recipe video
Actor Mayim Bialik — of The Big Bang Theory fame — debuted a vegan Passover recipe on YouTube today.
In the video, she offers modern recipes inspired by longstanding Jewish culinary traditions, while sharing titbits of information about her heritage with viewers.
“As any Jew of Eastern European descent will tell you, onion is like — we eat them like apples,” she says.
Same. Only with donuts.

The two dishes Mayim creates are a Matzo Lasagna, and Apricot Matzo Balls to be served as a side dish. The lasagna features ingredients like kale, potato, pasta sauce, and vegan mozzarella and ricotta. In the side dish, which Mayim sheepishly admits was prepared partly by her mom, are ingredients like apricots, root vegetables, vegan margarine and, of course, matzo ball mix.
At the end of the video, in a sentiment most of us should be able to get behind, Mayim says that, since her lasagna had cheese, it was sure to be delicious. She followed that up with a first bite and a happy dance well worth tuning in for.
