These workshops make it easy to turn plastic waste into beautiful new things
Precious Plastic is a global movement revolutionizing the way we see and reuse plastic.
Now, by taking recycling into their own hands, individuals and communities around the world can repurpose their own plastic to create beautiful new things. No, we’re not talking sawing the top off of a coke bottle and using it to pot a plant. This is something better.
Founded in 2013 by Netherlands native Dave Hakkens, Precious Plastic has equipped old shipping containers and other small spaces to create full fledged, on-the-spot, plastic repurposing facilities. Each one allows users to shred and reuse plastic to create items like climbing accessories, cell phone cases, wall tiles and bowls — all in a variety of colors, dependent on the plastic available to them.

You can watch a video outlining the process here.
While Precious Plastic has already helped to facilitate the creation of small businesses and plastic recycling facilities around the world, it’s a movement seeking growth. Those looking to get involved can express their interest and join a community of other eager recyclers here.
