The menu at this years Met Gala will be totally plant-based

The iconic Met Gala is set to return next month in what is predicted to be one of the most memorable nights of fashion yet after an over one year hiatus.

This year though, the glamorous fundraising event has teamed up with 10 New York chefs, handpicked by acclaimed chef Marcus Samuelsson. Together, they have put together an incredible menu which is 100% plant-based.

Speaking about the chef-curated menu, Samuelsson told Bon Appetit: “We thought it was important to really talk about what’s present, what’s happening—how food is changing in America.”

We want to be the future of American food, of plant-based food. That conversation is happening now.”

In the run up to the gala, Samuelsson will also be working with Vogue and Instagram to share Reels of the chefs rustling up plant-based recipes, such as watermelon salad, roasted potato skins, and a vegan ‘tuna’ Niçoise salad to get people excited about yet to be revealed menu.

Whilst the prestigious event always sparks conversation around the A-list attendees looks, Samuelsson is hopeful that this year will create a buzz around the food too.

“I’m excited about hopefully starting a tradition where, next spring, the audience will come for the food as well.” He explains.
