The Beyond Burger is now in 210 KFC locations in China

Beyond Meat’s Beyond Burger is launching in over 210 Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) locations located in China. This expansion comes after a successful three-day trial run in June. However, this new expansion is another trial: this time, the test will run across three weeks in additional locations.

During the trial, KFC, which is operated by Yum China Holdings in China, tested the plant-based burger, which featured dairy-based toppings, at five locations in Beijing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Shanghai. With this expansion, the Beyond Burger will be added to additional locations in these cities, as well as other locations in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Wuhan.

Back in June, the CEO of Yum China, Joey Wat, expressed his excitement for plant-based meat. “We see great potential for the plant-based meat market in China,” he said. “This exciting development is the latest iteration of our on-going commitment to introduce new and innovative products to Chinese consumers.”

Beyond Meat’s expansion into China comes as the vegan brand is building two production facilities in China, both in the eastern province of Zhejiang. This makes Beyond Meat the first multinational plant-based meat brand to bring its own production facility to China.
