Tesco meat counter shutdown as a result of low demand

UK grocer Tesco is shutting down meat and fish counters across the UK, as a result of decreasing demand.

Partial or complete closures have been reported this month in Devon, Kent, Saddleworth, Cornwall and beyond, with others preceding them this year. In January, it was reported that 700 of Tesco’s 732 larger stores would be impacted by the changes.

Tesco Meat Counter Notice

In-store signage photographed at one Tesco location reads: “Due to low customer demand, the meat and fish counters will be closing soon.”

Well, there you have it folks. Supply and demand appears to be a real, demonstrable law, after all. Go figure.
