Starbucks UK launches bubblegum frappuccino that can be made vegan!

Already going viral for its bright blue colour and pretty pink sprinkles, the limited-edition Bubbletastic frappé from Starbucks UK has fans going wild.

The coffee chain describes the drink on their website as ‘An icy cold blend of bubblegum flavour and whipped cream topped with popping candy for an added taste sensation.’

Upon first impression, the vibrant drink may not seem vegan friendly, however, with a few customizations a plant-based version of the frappe can be made.

Barista Nathan, known as ‘veegboi’ on Instagram has revealed that the blue colour actually comes from the superfood spirulina, a blue-green algae that can turn drinks blue without the need for artificial non-vegan dyes.

He says that customers can order a Bubbletastic Frappuccino with plant milk of their choice and then request non-dairy whipped cream. The popping candy sprinkles contain cow’s milk so vegans should ask for these not to be added.

Those wanting to try the new beverage should head to a store quick as this fun menu item is available for one week only in stores across the UK.
