Starbucks is testing vegan breakfast sandwiches

It’s official: Starbucks is ready to test vegan breakfast sandwiches. The coffee chain has debuted the new plant-based sandwich at a location in Issaquah, WA, a town on the outskirts of Seattle, in addition to several other vegan options.

The sandwich, named the Plant-Powered Breakfast Sandwich, is retailed at $5.45. It consists of a mung bean-based vegan egg, plant-based sausage patty, and dairy-free cheese, all of which are on an English muffin.

Another option for vegans at the Washington location are the Plant-Based Potato Bake bites, which are retailed at $4.75. The quiche-like bites are made from plant-based egg. Similarly, Chickpea bites are also included in this new vegan launch.

In September, the same Starbucks location began testing vegan cream cheese from Miyoko’s Creamery. There, customers can pick up 1.5-ounce packages of vegan cream cheese in Everything and Cinnamon Raisin flavors. Both are only $1.

Starbucks’ first foray in meatless products came in June, when they partnered with Impossible Foods. Despite using the brand’s plant-based sausage patty, the sandwich was not vegan, as it contained dairy-based cheese and animal-derived eggs.
