Plant-based Babybell and Laughing Cow cheese is coming to the US next year
French dairy company Bel Group has announced that it aims to release a vegan version of its popular Babybell cheese product as soon as next year in the United States.
The processed and semi-processed cheese manufacturer has also developed a plant-based garlic and herb spread as part of its Boursin brand, with the help of Follow Your Heart. This will be available to purchase from Amazon Fresh by the end of October.
Speaking about the companies extended range of products, executive Vice President Cécile Béliot of Bel Group told Food Drive: “For the past year, we have been accelerating the [Bel] Group’s transformation, with the conviction that a responsible and profitable growth is possible: an enlightened ‘capitalism’ that is moving from a logic of balance of power to a logic of value sharing, beyond any major stakes,”
“This is what guides all the [Bel] Group’s actions today.”
As well as creating plant-based versions of its Babybell, Laughing Cow, Leerdammer and Boursin cheeses, the company will introduce a new international brand which will be completely vegan.
