OPI debuts first vegan nail polish collection

Nail polish fans have a new reason to celebrate: OPI, a popular beauty brand, has just launched its first vegan nail polish collection. The new line, called Nature Strong, includes 30 different colors, which come in both shimmer and creme finishes, as well as a top coat.

The ingredients are all plant-based. Sugar cane, wheat, manioc, and potatoes are just some of the ingredients, which are all very unlike typical nail products. Other nail polishes usually contain toxic ingredients instead.

As the name Nature Strong suggests, this new line takes inspiration from nature. Water, flowers, sunshine, fruits, and vegetables are appreciated via polish names and hues, such as Spring Into Action, a lilac color, Let Nature Take Its Quartz, a light pink, and Shore Is Something, a deep blue.

OPI recognized the need for non-toxic and cruelty-free polishes, and the Nature Strong collection has even obtained certification from The Vegan Society. In keeping in line with Nature Strong’s nature inspiration, OPI is also using 20 percent post-consumer recycled materials in their bottle caps.

Currently, Nature Strong is only available in the United States, but the brand hopes to expand this collection into other regions. The polishes are listed on OPI’s website for $11.50, and the brand boasts that they will last for seven days.
