New type of convenience store hits the streets of Philadelphia

A new vegan convenience store, dubbed V Marks the Shop, has opened in Philadelphia.

While the new business, opened by husband and wife Carlo Giardina and Carmella Lanni, is marketed as a convenience store, it might not be exactly what you’re picturing. There is neither a dusty can of tomato sauce nor pack of smokes in sight.

Instead, V Marks the Shop carries a wide array of products from both major and local brands. Offerings include such items as macarons, nut butters, cannoli, plant-based milk and even Beyond Meat products.

While it’s probably not the place you’re going to stock up for your next raw-food-cleanse-slash-jaw-strengthening-experiment, it is the perfect spot for those looking for a good time. Green juice has its place. So do cannolis.

According to the shop’s Facebook page, its owners intend to “bring people together, spread compassion and enjoy amazing vegan eats, treats and home goods!”

You can find the new shop on McKeen Street in South Philly.
