Kroger now carries new plant-based butter in plastic-free packaging

Yvonne O'Halloran

Kroger, a popular chain of grocery stores in the United States, has begun selling a new vegan butter that is not only plant-based but environmentally friendly as well. Flora Plant offers two kinds of butters – unsalted or salted – for every vegan’s baking needs.

The brand contains what they call “only the good stuff” inside their plant-based butters. The brand is free from dairy, GMOs, gluten, and both artificial flavors and preservatives. Perfect for vegans, Flora has a vegan standard. According to their website, the brand has “taken appropriate precautions to avoid the unintended presence of animal substances.”

This plant-based butter gets even better: Flora Plant products are wrapped in paper packaging. The brand also ensures that their ingredients are sustainable. Though the butter contains palm oil, Flora “only source[s] from suppliers who share [their] commitment of keeping habitats and biodiversity intact.” To further their commitment to sustainability, the brand is part of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

Flora is already a popular plant-based brand in other countries. You can find them in the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, and the Czech Republic, to name a few.

This brand new butter will be available at Kroger locations and has a suggested retail price of $3.49.
