Jane Goodall sends a powerful message: Let us all live in peace and harmony

Yvonne O'Halloran

Jane Goodall who is known for being a powerful animal-rights activist and is an acclaimed primatologist recently sent out a public video regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. In the video the 85-year old sends out her sincerest condolences to the public all around the world who have been impacted during this difficult and challenging time. She then goes on to talk about the animals “who are captured and kept in horrible conditions for food, or because some people believe that various animal parts can be used to cure diseases to give people strength or virility”.

She talks to her viewers about how wild animals, like us, suffer pain and experience fear and loneliness and despair. She mentions the climate crisis and how many animals have become extinct due to the actions of humans. She goes on to say “our too close relationship with wild animals in the wet markets or when we use them for entertainment has unleashed the terror and misery of new viruses”.

Jane finishes her short video with a powerful message:

“We have amazing brains, we’re capable of love and compassion for each other. Let us also show love and compassion for the animals who are with us on this planet. Let us all live in peace and harmony together.
