Impossible Foods launches vegan pork

Vegan pork is now on the menu globally, thanks to Impossible Foods. The California-based vegan meat company has begun its launch of Impossible Pork in restaurants.

Ruby Tuesday, Tim Ho Wan, and Beef & Liberty are just some of the restaurants that currently have their hands on the plant-based pork. But the first place to serve Impossible Pork was Momofuku Ssam Bar in New York.

Before the new meat alternative will make its way to retail outlets, Impossible Foods plans to launch in over 100 restaurants in Hong Kong on October 4, following the successful debut of the brand’s burgers in Hong Kong and Singapore in 2020.

A Hong Kong launch could prove to be valuable, as China is both the world’s largest consumer and producer of pork. However, Impossible Foods won’t be the only vegan pork supplier in the country. OmniFoods and its vegan pork has already successfully made its way through Asia and Europe before its recent launch in the United States.

While pork is one of the most widely consumed meats in the world, Impossible Foods’ alternative will provide a healthier option. The company says its new pork has 18 grams of protein, 37 percent fewer calories, 59 percent less total fat, and zero cholesterol compared to 70/30 ground pork.
