Environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio and vegan Harley Quinn Smith to appear in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio and vegan actor Harley Quinn Smith are set to appear in the major upcoming film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
Coming to big screens in July, the film will be the ninth major project of cult-classic-making machine Quentin Tarantino. Alongside DiCaprio and Smith, who are both actively involved in the plant-based movement, will be a cast including such major names as Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt — so this thing’s kind of a big deal.

“That’s great,” you might say.
“But this doesn’t have anything to do with veganism, and Quentin Tarantino’s films are, like, super violent.”
That last bit is true, granted. Maybe leave the kids at home for this one, but there’s a case to be made that the prevalence of stars who are vegan or, in DiCaprio’s case, invested in the cause, is a good sign for a growing plant-based movement.

While Smith and DiCaprio appear in major films, vegan musicians Miley Cyrus and Billie Eilish are becoming household names as a result of their success in the music biz, and will both perform at the Glastonbury festival this June.
Let’s face it, people love celebrities and, in a climate where people will start wearing allegedly dangerous waist trainers because the Kardashians do it, the growing popularity of veganism among the rich and famous has to be a good thing, right?
Well, it’s certainly a trend of more depth than the pursuit of a tiny waist, anyway.
