Elmhurst 1925 now sells vegan soft serve mix
Former dairy company Elmhurst 1925 has launched a vegan soft-serve mix in two flavors: chocolate and vanilla. The base, which is made from the now non-dairy brand’s popular oat milk, can be used in any ice cream maker to create a creamy ice cream. The official name for the product is Elmhurst Creamery New Fashioned Soft-Serve.
The frozen treat is easy to make if you have an ice cream maker at home: it is made by refrigerating the mix, shaking it, and then adding it to the ice cream maker. Consumers can customize the mix any way they like by adding different ingredients such as fruit, granola, or even chocolate chips.
Elmhurst, which started as a dairy company over 80 years ago, is attempting to put a new twist on an old-fashioned treat.
“Think nostalgic, old-fashioned ice cream with a new-fashioned dairy-free, vegan twist,” Elmhurst’s Vice President of Marketing, Heba Mahmoud, said. “As we spend more time at home, we wanted to deliver a product that families can make together, while creating lasting memories at the same time.”
The new mix has a variety of benefits: not only is it shelf-stable, but it is also gluten-free, Non-GMO Project certified, kosher, certified vegan, and made without any artificial ingredients.
