Cadbury owner Mondelēz is reported to be developing a plant-based version of its classic dairy milk chocolate. The company has been testing the recipe for 2 years now and the launch of the product was due to be released in January 2020 to tie in with Veganuary but they decided not to as they are still working on finding the perfect recipe that will also suit consumers with nut allergies. “We’re always listening to our consumers,” said a Mondelēz spokesperson. “So we can develop and provide people with greater choice. This includes looking at a plant-based Cadbury Dairy Milk bar.” They do not want the taste or the texture to suffer and so are working hard on the perfect recipe. They added that the brand has no plans for an “immediate launch.” It will only debut the new vegan milk chocolate option when it “retains the texture and taste that our consumers love.”
