Baskin-Robbins to launch oat milk ice-cream

Baskin-Robbins will be the first national chain to launch oat milk ice cream with the addition of their new Flavor of the Month, Non-Dairy Strawberry Streusel. Although the availability of this flavor is limited to just the month of May, the ice cream chain has plans to release more vegan flavors using oat milk later in the year.

In addition to an oat milk base, this frozen treat also contains strawberries, cinnamon granola, and a crumbly streusel. Though this particular concoction is only available in May, it is not limited by location: all 2,500 Baskin-Robbins locations will carry the strawberry dessert.

“We’re a brand that’s all about creating new flavor experiences and with so many people living plant-based or flexitarian lifestyles today, we couldn’t be more excited to launch our new oat milk-based option,” said Baskin-Robbins’ Vice President of Marketing and Culinary Shannon Blakely. “We’re so passionate about this new base and Flavor of the Month as it’s not just an evolution of our offerings, but a sign of our passion and commitment to creating what’s ‘next’ in frozen desserts.”

This launch is huge, given that Baskin-Robbins is the world’s largest ice cream chain. Prior to the brand’s use of oat milk, they first began offering vegan ice cream in 2019, using a base of coconut oil and almond butter.
