New Montreal vegan restaurant proves that fast food can be healthy too

Montreal welcomed Code Vert, a new vegan quick-service restaurant, to town last month.

It should be noted, however, that it’s not your typical fast-food joint. There will be no bright clown statues and you’ll find yourself in a warm and cosy atmosphere rather than a shiny, plastic one.

The new spot’s health-focused menu includes items such as porridge, muffins, chia pudding, salads, buddha bowls and even plant-based poutine — a nutritious revamp of the Québécois classic.

The beverage menu includes both hot and alcoholic beverages, the latter of which may be welcome news to those bringing reluctant family members along.

Code Vert is one of a long list of plant-based options in Montreal, which also includes a small army of Copper Branch stores.

Located on Bishop Street, the new restaurant is open every day, with extended hours on the weekend.
