Yellofruit’s vegan frozen dessert to hit 600 Canadian stores this summer
Yellofruit’s vegan frozen dessert is set to hit 600 Canadian stores this summer.
The brand’s mango, chocolate, and strawberry-flavored pints, which come in brightly colored, easy-to-spot packaging, will soon appear in Loblaws, Sobeys and Metro stores around the country, as well as at a number of regional retailers.
Made from real fruit, and other ingredients you can actually pronounce, you might make the mistake of thinking Yellofruit would closely resemble sorbet — which, let’s face it, just doesn’t stand up to creamier desserts — but you’d be wrong. The ice-cream-like range was a labor of love from wife and husband team Clare and Andrew Kinnear, who wanted a healthier alternative to ice cream for their children to enjoy, but insisted on keeping things creamy.

“Understanding the science of ice cream was really important to the product we were making,” Andrew told Food Navigator.
“Because if we were to just make something out of fruit, it would be like a sorbet, but what we really wanted to do was mimic the texture and consistency of real ice cream.”
Proper thing.
According to Andrew, the fruit-laden pints should hit around 600 Canadian retailers by the time summer starts. Go ahead and enjoy it. You’re the only one who gives a hoot about that “bikini body”, anyway.
