The worlds first vegan steak house has opened!
What was once a traditional Welsh inn, serving meaty pub food, is now quite possibly the world’s first ever vegan steak house.
Last January, the family owners of the Queen Inn pup decided to rise to the vegan challenge and serve only plant-based foods. This experiment was initially intended to last until the end of Veganuary. The staff were pleasantly surprised at how their vegan menu flourished and made the commitment to becoming vegan for the entire year…
With such a successful rebranding in 2022, they decided to try something new for this Veganuary, becoming the world’s first all-vegan steakhouse.
The Queen Inn, of South Wales, uses 3D printed steaks from Redefine and the wittily marketed plant-based alternatives from Juicy Marbles, accompanied with an array of steak sauce options. Their menu also features other exciting dishes, such as their vegan ‘land and sea’ platter with plant-based shrimp skewers and f*sh fillet.
You may be wondering what on earth is 3D printed vegan meat? Redefine create proportions of muscle, fat and blood for their cutlet designs. They input these designs into a 3D printer that creates the steaks using concoctions of plant-based proteins and coconut, as well as beetroot and berries for the ‘blood’.
The Queen Inn clientele are delighted by this new menu, and the pub’s facebook has reported that they are quickly booking up for the entire month.
Let’s hope that more culinary establishments are boldened enough to make this revolutionary transition. And additionally, that more members of the public can see that being vegan does not mean you are missing out!
