The start of month-long attack on Dairy UK
Animal Rebellion UK have kept their promise with a busy start to September.
In case you haven’t heard, Animal Rebellion UK have launched a campaign called ‘Plant-Based Future’ and have been recruiting all summer for an organised attack on the dairy industry throughout this month.
A vegan campaign like this has never been trialled before. This is a non-violent campaign of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience refers to intentionally breaking the law as a form of effective and highly disruptive protest. This method has been used throughout human history to incite revolution.
Brave members of Animal Rebellion will risk arrest, and potential conviction, as a sacrifice they deem necessary for the protection of all life.
They started by occupying supermarket milk isles and have escalated to blocking the transport of dairy products. Arla, a multinational dairy company, stated that there would be ‘inevitable’ dairy shortages due to blockading by activists. It has been estimated that Arla lost out on £170,000 of revenue by a 24hr blockade of their main distributor.
On Sunday the 4th, 4 major dairy distributors were their first targets. Activists sat in the road with banners and scaled dairy transport vehicles until they were removed by police officers.
The announcement of the new British Prime-Minister, Liz Truss, was also interrupted by Animal Rebellion campaigners occupying the road outside of the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre as members of parliament tried to get in.
On the 7th, the iconic Big Ben was sprayed with fake milk using ‘modified fire extinguishers’, whilst 9 individuals blocked the road outside of parliament.
This appears to be the very start of the world’s largest and most daring vegan movement. A very exciting time in vegan history.
