Vegan food court to open in Atlanta in 2021

VegOut Atlanta, a vegan marketplace, is planning to bring an all-vegan food court to the city in Spring 2021. Named VegCourt, it is founded by JaKarrea Walker.

To develop VegCourt, VegOut Atlanta has partnered with iFundWomen, a crowdfunding platform just for women, to raise funds. The goal is to raise $30,000 to secure the location and necessary equipment. The food court will need commercial kitchen equipment, licenses and permits, as well as insurance, among other things.

The goal of VegCourt is to have one convenient space for vegans (and the vegan-curious) to find quick and fresh plant-based meals. In an interview with VegNews, Walker said, “There are food courts and food halls for everyone else, why not one for us?”

VegCourt already has its first vendor lined up. Dot’s Vegan Soul will make its debut at VegCourt. They specialize in plant-based soul food, such as banana cornbread and vegan salmon croquettes.

Currently, Walker is in talks with other potential vendors.
