Veganuary touts an incredible 85% success rate
According to an official Veganuary survey, an astounding 85 percent of 2021 participants are planning to make permanent diet changes now that Veganuary is over. The organization challenges people to go vegan throughout January – and ideally beyond.
Toni Vernelli, Veganuary International Head of Communications, claims that such results show that “Veganuary really is inspiring people around the world to adopt a more planet-friendly diet.” Vernelli says that 85 percent of 2021 participants are “planning to at least halve their intake of animal products permanently – including 40 percent who plan to stay fully vegan.”
A portion of participants (23 percent) noted the ease of veganism as part of their decision to continue their plant-based journey. Others shared that it was the knowledge they gained during January that is inspiring them to stay vegan.
Veganuary has revealed other important statistics on this year’s challenge. According to their survey, 85 percent of participants were women, while 65 percent were between the ages of 25 and 54.
Meanwhile, 46 percent of participants revealed that animal welfare was the largest factor in joining the challenge. Personal health (22 percent) and the environment (21 percent) were other motivating factors, with only 5 percent citing another reason, such as curiosity.
