Five raw vegan recipes that won’t make you a social pariah
Raw-food veganism. It’s a lot.
Sorry, Brenda, I can’t come to the company potluck because I’m attempting to reach a higher spiritual plane by way of cold-pressed green juice, overripe bananas and seemingly endless piles of zoodles.
Your jaw’s tired. You’re always eating. All the ‘normies’ seem to really hate you now. It’s just a lot to invest in a diet.
Granted, some people say they thrive on a fully raw plant-based lifestyle, and to each his own, but rest-assured, you don’t have to upend your life to enjoy a micronutrient-dense, healthy raw meal from time to time. And some of them actually taste amazing.
Five delicious, (relatively) easy vegan recipes follow.

Rawvana’s Healthy Snickers Bar
There’s no doubt that Yovana Mendoza is an OG of raw-vegan YouTube. Needless to stay, this social media star knows how to whip up a healthy-looking recipe that’s also approachable.
You won’t need any crazy contraptions, or the tears of a rare unicorn, to make these bars. Just a high-speed blender and a food processor. As far as raw food goes, that’s pretty basic. Fortunately, Yovana has made a recipe video for this one, so you can follow along with her and, even if you totally botch the recipe, some of her pep might just rub off on you.

Raw Vegan Tacos
As the author of a book titled Raw. Vegan. Not Gross., Laura Miller knows how to make a raw vegan taco and, as anyone who’s ever had tasty raw food can testify, Mexican fusion is where it’s at.
So if you’ve got a food processor and lofty dietary aspirations, check out Laura on YouTube, or see her book, for the recipe.

Avocado Chocolate Mousse
If you eat Fully Raw Kristina’s Raw Chocolate Mousse after an entire fully cooked pizza, it nullifies your main. Well, we can pretend.
This is a recipe sure to please any chocolate lover, so it’s a great way to draw in your inner circle — because, let’s face it, people who say they don’t like chocolate can’t to be trusted anyway.
You can find the whole recipe for this people-pleasing dessert on YouTube.

Avocado Basil Pesto
Okay, so piles of zoodles aren’t the worst thing in the world — when they’re coated in the right sauce. This is where Amanda ‘Rawmanda’ Le’s Avocado Basil Pesto comes in. Also, if you really want to, you can put it on cooked pasta. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. You can sit with your shame.
Easy step-by-step directions for this recipe are available on Amanda’s blog.

Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches
Grab your Vitamix, money bags, Tess Begg is about to brighten up your day. If you don’t have a Vitamix, a food processor (which costs less than $500) should also work.
If it’s hot as heck outside and you’re trying to dodge your fourth pint of Ben & Jerry’s this week, this recipe is the one for you.
Tess, who is not a raw food purist, which may make her more hashtag-relatable, takes you step-by-step through the process on her popular YouTube channel.
