Forager is entering the vegan cheese market

Yvonne O'Halloran

Forager Project, a California-based brand known for dairy-free milk and yogurt, is now throwing its hat into the vegan cheese ring. Forager is planning its launch of Cheeseworks, an upcoming line of vegan, organic cheeses.

Cheeseworks will be available in two formats – cheese and chunks – and four flavors – Mozzarella, Jack, Parmesan, and Queso Fresco. The latter is particularly interesting, as it is fairly unique to the plant-based cheese market.

The cheeses in this line are all created using a base of Forager’s organic cashew milk yogurt. This means that these products will also contain probiotics, a bonus for those looking for a healthier cheese alternative. Additionally, Cheeseworks will feature no modified food starches, while still mimicking the stretch and melt of dairy cheeses.

Ideally, the launch of Cheeseworks will be nationwide, appearing at stores such as Stop & Shop, Sprouts, Fresh Thyme, Central Markets, and more. The suggested retail price is $5.99, which is on par for most vegan cheeses currently on the market.
